“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
When Jesus died in the cross more than 2000 years ago, he carried all our sins with him. “For the wages of sin is death…” -Romans 6:23; I am a sinner and so are you, and it was written that the payment for sin is death, yet we don’t even own our lives since we were bought with a price. We cannot atone for our sins, we cannot pay the price of sin, but when Jesus died on that cross he took our place on the cross, becoming our sin and suffering our punishment so we could recieve his righteousness. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” -Romans 3:23; We fall short of the glory of God and we are not righteous, but “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” -2 Corinthians 5:21; Because of this I pledge my Conscience to God!
We were saved because of what Jesus did and because of his love I will shout out his name. Despite being raised a catholic I never knew what the gospel meant, but when I ecountered Jesus Christ in my life all of that changed. I knew that we became victorious because of him, we became righteous because of him, and with that I will publicly declare my love for Him. The water is only a symbol of renewal but the Holy Spirit is what works inside of us that makes change.
Our baptismal took place on the second day of our Victory Weekend and that marks the day of my Spiritual Birthday ~ 07/10/16 ~
Our leaders really played a big part of this. They were there with us all the way. They gave us the comfort and guidance we needed to get here. They constantly pushed us to go further and closer to Christ. This is my leader here, one of the most fun and loving leader I’ve seen. What I couldn’t tell other people I can tell him without persecution or anything like that but instead filled with understanding.
It’s not only the leader’s that were there for us though. We the disciples also were there for each other. We are brothers in Christ and we are one spiritual family. This are the guys I was with through this amazing weekend.
I’m blessed to have met them. Whenever we’re down or question ourselves we’re always there for each other to make sure that none of us fall short. That we would get up if we stumble. That we can combine our light to shine on the darkness of this world.
The Victory Weekend was a retreat for us to understand even further God’s presence in our lives. The two day retreat really thought us a lot about Christianity and our community. It gave us a sense of who we are and helped us find our Identity as Christians. It thought us Purpose and our worth in Jesus Christ. It thought us how to love. It even thought us how to fight against addictions, heck we even spoke in Tongues!
The second day was filled with excitement as we get ready for the water baptism. As we learn more about how we can change nations we publicly declared our allegience with Christ as the moment of our renewal drew near.
We were seperated by which service we attended, so that it would be more organized. The feeling of the water as we dipped in was so cold, but that didn’t stop us. We lay our foundations in Christ so that we wouldn’t falter in small things. We were filled by the holy spirit as we plunged down and let go of everything, the burden, the hatred, the sins. We are made holy in Christ, and claiming his promises is the best thing I’ve ever done.
Soon everything will fall into place, we might not know our position right now or how things go about, but soon the big picture will be finished and we would see the beauty of God’s plan in us. Just have faith in God.
Now that the Victory Weekend is done our next step is the Purple book where we will train for victory. We wil learn how to make disciples and engage with other people so that the word of the Lord will be spread throughout this land. Soon the Nations will be reborn into Christ and all of us will be able to claim our victory!
